Linux Mint Now With KDE 4.0
And Finally, we have a Linux Distribution with Featured KDE 4 Desktop Environment, and its nothin less Than Linux Mint, Hopefully it will be an improvement for daily work. Having Mint tools and utilities it could mean God news if you were having problems on previous OpenSuSE Live KDE 4.0. Source Distrowatch.com
Clement Lefebvre has announced the final release of Linux Mint 4.0 KDE Community edition: \"Linux Mint 4.0 KDE released. Daryna KDE is nearly as \'minty\' as the main edition now. The packages are (safely) up to date and the kernel is the Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon kernel 2.6.22. Mint applications: mintInstall, mintwifi, mintUpdate, mintAssistant, mintUpload. Minted versions of Firefox, Sunbird. Changes since the beta release: fixed the HAL USB NTFS problem; changed some Compiz default settings to make it more KDEish and fix a known bug; added a Linux Mint user agent to Konqueror and pre-added some sites to use the Mint user agent. This helps people know Linux Mint is out and about.

Netgear WPN824 Review
Synthesis: Well, lets start this review saying that this router is different than other netgear routers and other vendors equipment, this device doesnt have external antennax, so you might wonder that its range its not that good, well sort of it, this routers maximum potential can\'t be achieved with a normal G54 adapter, but further more my personal experience with this routers wireless range was rathjer dissapointing, Its range isnt any better of my older Linksys routers, using the same laptop with the same adaptor (Dell Wireless 1370) [Broadcom] i didnt get any further, in matter of speed theres a better response, using Sisoftware Sandra 2007 i could test the speed, and it was a little bit better than with wrt54g, About 3.3-3.4 mbps at optimum range (3 meters).
Now the facts.
Wireless.
This router\'s chipset is atheros 2313, its a, a mimo router Sure :D, i might have to buy one of netgear\'s adapter to go further and faster than usinjg regular G-standard. Wireless range was mediocre, doesnt go further than common Linksys routers, so if you want RANGE this is not the perfect choice, this router dosent have the extra-range that you would expect.
Maximum Troughput: SMB: 2.8 mbps WPA Encryption.
VNC: 3.3 mbps while watching a movie in the host system, i tried to take the throughput to the maximum. Using WPA Encryption.
Wireless Security: All wireless security that you would expect in a router, WPA WPA2 and WEP Encription, you can also have a list of trustes computers to only acces the router which is Great.
Security: This router got some professional level security options that you usually dont see in other SOHO models like DI-624 624m or linksys gx models.
Features:
1. SPI Firewall:
That stands for Stateful Packet inspection, this means that this model will get used to your programs and allow dome ports/programs that you use all the time, so this router will start to monitor your web traffic and will allow like for example, port 6881 with server 80.131.45.66 for p2p.
2. Parental Cntrol.
You can either block the web traffic at certain hours/days or block webpages by keyword, this feature is great if your children are browsing all the time the web.
3. Site blocker / service blocker.
Also this router feature other common important features like port forwarding and triggering, block services, e-mail notifications, which is great if you arent at home. Remote mangement, so this equipment is kickass in terms of security. Altough we still miss QoS features, thats a must have for routers nowadays.
Look&Fell: The router\'s deign is pretty nice, a white sleek case that holds a blue orbit that has 7 blue leds that will tell you the wireless use andd location of clients etc, this router\'s got an A in terms of design.
You can see the Ruckus wireless logo at one side, at the other side RANGEMAX Wireless router, and to the front the common status leds.
Thumbs Up: - Security features
- Elegant Sleek Design.
- Possibility to turn off the blue leds.
- Fast and easy setup with all kind of broadband connections.
- Connection is reliable, constant connection for hours or days with wireless or wired connections.
- Diagnostic leds for internet or router configuration, it lets you know wether the router is not conected.
- No QoS Capabilities.
Thumbs Down: - Wireless range is poor
- The router will restart everytime a modification of wireless settings is done.
- Only in white, it would be nice to choose between grey or blue black etc....
- Lacks support
- Will require the use of Netgear 108mbps mimo to achieve its maximum potential.
Wireless: 3
Wireless Security: 5
Functions: 4.5
Look&Feel: 5
Security: 5
The bottom Line: A good buying choice for those who are in a SOHO Environment and want professional level security features, i strongly recommend you to buy Netgear adapters if you are going to use this device.

PClinuxOS 2007-tr4 Review
My personal review of PCLinuxOS tr4 and 2007 editions.
The system: AMD Athlon 3000+ Asus a8v MOBO, Nvidia GeForce FX 5200, Excelstor Drive and iteon dvd-cdrom drives.
I Finally gave a shot to PCLinuxOS on April, downloaded, the tr4 release and started it, I have to tell that i was instantly decided to instyall this great distro on my system, and it was so easy and fast.
Lets start the review by telling why PCLinuxOS is different.
First. PCLinuxOS comes with all codecs and multimedia support you would need in your linux distro, such as, java, flash player 9 which is great, AVI; ogm, mpeg and mp3 codecs, also DVD and others.
Second. Great control panel, it recognized my Advantek USB WLAN Card, just needed the .inf files and GO!
Third. As a mandriva based distro, also have that awesome system management tools, if you are thinking on using AIGLX or XGL this is your distro, just install the drivers with synaptic, as easy as installing an rpm file, then enable beryl-compiz and restart X.
Fourth. FAST, this distro is not bloated at all, its awesome how it can run bittorrent frostwire openoffice synapttic, mozilla and everything so fast.
Fifth. :D stable, finally, i have one distro that will not fail booting or recognizing new hardware.
Everything went fine, burning dvds with k3b, wifi networking, Online games (Server, Client).
On 1 to ten. i would give it a 9,5
Thumbs Up: multimedia support, system mamagement tools, Stable, fast.
Thumbs Down: No decent ftp programs, only KFTPGrabber, which fails uploading files.
Bottom Line: If you wat an All-In-One distro with excellent multimedia and hardware support, make this your choice.

Action Cube Explosion !
Hi to you all readers, i have been playing AC for some time, well what it is ?, A nice basic FPS game where 2 teams fighting between them, but it has many game modes, some like, Capture the flag, classic deathmatch team deathmatch only knives *fun mode, sniper mode and team sniper mode, where all players have 1 percent of life so any sniper shot would bring them death.
Also i have one server With 10 players capacity where we play every day. The servers current ip is 201.248.60.70 you can view if its turned on from action cuber web page http://action.cubers.net/servers.html.
And Also i have been forming a clan for thos Latin americna players like me so we can match with other teams, the idea its pretty nice and i encorage you to come with us and play.
Heres a better explanation of what action cube is, From Mainsite.
About
ActionCube screenshots ActionCube is a total conversion of Wouter van Oortmerssen´s FPS called Cube. Set in a realistic looking environment, as far as that´s possible with this engine, while gameplay stays fast and arcade. This game is all about team oriented multiplayer fun.
The Game
Story
Well, there is no story. Bascially this game is about these two teams fighting each other:
The Cubers Liberations Army (CLA)
Little is known about the goals and motivation of this small but feared Terrorist group. Their activities are as diverse as their members. With ex-military, anarchists, religious fanatics, conspiracy theorists, hippies stuck tripping, free© software fanatics™, or simply severely mental disordered persons or bored youngsters, this organization is a pool for radicals from across the globe. Their operations range from simple annoyances (such as introducing large amounts of mariuana-smoke into the air conditioners of offices or malls) to well planned gruesome bombings, choosing civilians as well as politicians, lobbyists or religious leaders and their staff as targets. “Terror for the sake of terror, for you all suck!” seems to be their motto.
The Rabid Viper Special Forces (RVSF)
An elite group of armed special forces, but not the kind you´d expect. These guys are battle worn fighters and mercenairies, who might have been just a little too trigger happy and up for glory to fit into any other kind of elite squad. Not suitable where lives are to be spared and private or public property to remain unharmed. The backrounds and funders of this extravagant task-force remain well concealed, for obvious reasons. Their primary targets are highly unpredictable terrorists and organized criminals such as the CLA where intelligence, infiltration and stealth would be just a waste of time. “First shoot, then ask questions, if anyone´s left to ask” is the primary approach to their job.

Tremulous 1.1.0 Standalone
A week ago a friend told me about this Q3 mod game, (now standalone) it uses the q3 engine and is GPL Licensed, i played it myself, and its quite good, it gives me 90 fps or a little more on most maps, The game is about an alien invasion, aliens are some weird spiders that build structures, evolve, and attack by biting, smashing, using electricity, gases, etc. So the first one that invades the enemy base and destroy the generator wins, and it can take up to 30 mins to do that, humans can buy items by killing enemies or they structures, also by constructing new ones to defend the base.
The game is about 100 Mb for linux, last time i got it from my debian\\\'s apt and i was really good, but you can get it by entering www.tremulous.net and downloading one .run file.
Windows users can also enjoy it.
Notice, 3d acceleration graphics are required, please download your ati or nvidia drivers...
A NICE Game!
A better explanation of tremulous....
From Tremulous.net....
Tremulous is a free, open source game that blends a team based FPS with elements of an RTS. Players can choose from 2 unique races, aliens and humans. Players on both teams are able to build working structures in-game like an RTS. These structures provide many functions, the most important being spawning. The designated builders must ensure there are spawn structures or other players will not be able to rejoin the game after death. Other structures provide automated base defense (to some degree), healing functions and much more...

Jigdo (Jigsaw) Utility
Jigdo is an utility specially designed for downloading large files like CD/DVD iso\'s, also it can be a nice system for redistributing large files so far.
jigdo was inspired by the problems that Debian Linux had with the distribution of its CD images. Debian is a 100% volunteer-driven organization which depends on donations to finance its infrastructure. For this reason, it also doesn\'t own any of the 300 servers around the world on which the distribution is mirrored.
jigdo solves this problem by not requiring that the full image be stored on the servers. Instead, it can download the individual files from a normal Debian mirror and only assemble the image on the user\'s machine. Additionally, it can also do other useful things like helping with the mirror selection and upgrading images.

Firefox Bugs On FC6?
Seems that Firefox has a bug managing flash content on The new fedora core 6 release.
Bug of version 7 of the flash player (oh god they havent released neither a 64 bit version neither the 9 new release for linux)
This happen because of a bug in the flash plugin that cant manage the X Extension Composite, this doesnt affect the new fedora core 6 firefox releases the bug is fixed. So get yum to upgrade the version of firefox if you wish to view flash player animations.
